Lassi: Kefalonia's Most Popular Resort
Lassi (Greek: η Λάσση) sits 3km from EFL airport and 5km from Argostoli on a peninsula of rocky headland and golden-sand bays. It is the island's most developed resort — not the most authentic corner of Kefalonia, but the most convenient. Everything a beach holiday visitor could want is within reach: two celebrated beaches, a full strip of tavernas and bars, watersports operators, and regular buses to Argostoli town.
The Beaches
Makris Gialos and Platis Gialos are the twin centrepieces of Lassi. Both are wide, organised beaches with golden sand, clear turquoise water, and full facilities — sunloungers, umbrellas, showers, beach bars, and watersports rentals. Both hold Blue Flag status.
Makris Gialos (literally "long beach") is the larger of the two, a broad arc of sand popular from early morning. Platis Gialos ("wide beach") is slightly more sheltered, popular with families with young children for its calmer conditions and gentler gradient into the water.
Eating and Drinking
Lassi's main road runs along the coastal ridge, lined with tavernas, cafés, and cocktail bars. The range spans tourist-facing grill restaurants to good family-run tavernas serving grilled fish, moussaka, and the island's classic pastitsada — beef slow-cooked with pasta and a rich spiced tomato sauce.
