TUI Nordic Expands to Kefalonia
In exciting news for Kefalonia's tourism industry, TUI Nordic has officially announced the launch of direct charter flights from Scandinavia to Kefalonia International Airport (EFL) starting in summer 2026.
The new routes will connect the island directly with major Nordic cities, making it significantly easier for Scandinavian travellers to reach one of Greece's most beautiful Ionian islands.
What We Know So Far
- Routes: Direct flights from Stockholm, Copenhagen and Oslo
- Frequency: Weekly departures from late May through September
- Aircraft: Boeing 737 MAX operated by TUI fly Nordic
- Start date: Late May 2026
What This Means for Kefalonia
This is a major development for the island's tourism sector. Until now, Scandinavian visitors typically had to connect through Athens or other European hubs to reach Kefalonia.
The direct connection is expected to:
- Increase visitor numbers from the Nordic region by an estimated 30-40%
- Extend the season as TUI typically operates from late May to early October
- Boost local businesses — hotels, restaurants, car rentals and activity providers
Nordic Travellers and Kefalonia
Scandinavian tourists are known for their love of nature, outdoor activities and authentic cultural experiences — all of which Kefalonia offers in abundance. From the stunning Myrtos Beach to the charming village of Fiskardo, the island is perfectly positioned to attract this market.
